    OKAVANGO DELTA

Explore the Okavango Delta by mokoro or motorised boat cruises (seasonal), on foot or on game drive.

A maze of sparkling lagoons, meandering channels and overgrown islands teeming with wildlife, Botswana’s Okavango Delta lies like a sparkling jewel at the heart of the Kalahari Desert.

Known as “the river that never finds the sea”, crystal clear channels spread over the thirstlands of the Kalahari with their papyrus-fringed banks and fertile floating islands.
Adapted for a life in and out of water, the elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga are found in this watery wilderness. Lion, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog share the floodplains with large herds of elephant and buffalo.

    MOREMI GAME RESERVE

Welcome to the oldest protected section of the Okavango Delta in Botswana

A 100 years after explorer David Livingstone called this land ‘country full of rivers’, the environment and wildlife in the Moremi area were under threat. It is because of the bold, local Batawana people that this area was proclaimed Moremi Game Reserve in 1963, making Moremi the oldest and first protected reserve of the Okavango Delta.

As a sign of gratitude, the reserve is named after Batawana tribe members, Chief Moremi III and his wife. Now, the Moremi Game Reserve is one of the most diverse reserves with surprises everywhere, even for the most seasoned Africa-travelers.

    KGALAGADI TRANSFRONTIER PARK

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is a vast wildlife preserve in the Kalahari Desert region of Botswana and South Africa, bordering Namibia to the west. It’s characterized by red dunes and dry rivers.

Wildlife includes migrating herds of wildebeest and springbok, plus predators like raptors and black-maned Kalahari lions.

Various lodges and wildnerness camps offer game-viewing drives and guided walks with park rangers.

    CHOBE national park

Chobe National Park is in northern Botswana near the vast, inland Okavango Delta.

It's known for its large herds of elephants and Cape buffalo, which converge along the Chobe Riverfront in the dry months.

Lions, antelopes and hippos inhabit the woods and lagoons around Linyanti Marsh.

The floodable grasslands of the Savuti Marsh attract numerous bird species, plus migrating zebras.

    TSODILO HILLS

Tsodilo Hills is a rare and unique place with an atmosphere of intrigue and mystery.

The word Tsodilo is derived from the Hambukushu word 'sorile' which means sheer.

It is believed to be the site of first Creation by the Bushmen who painted more than 3500 rock paintings against the magnificent stone faces of the hills.

Some of the paintings date back to around 800 to 1300 AD.

Perhaps that is why the site is held sacred by the locals.

    GCWIHABA caves

In the northwest corner of Botswana several related groups of dolomite hills present a striking contrast to the surrounding sandveld.

The Aha hills straddle the Botswana/Namibia border just north of the village Xai-Xai. Some 35km east of the village, Gcwihaba Valley with its fossil river features a cluster of 6 low-lying dolomite hills.

Further 19km southwest of the Gcwihaba Caves lies Koanaka hills, with three hills.

The Fascinating aspect is that all these hills have caves which are collectively referred to as the Gcwihaba Caves

    MAKGADIKGADI PANS

The shimmering salt pans of Makgadikgadi along with the Nxai Pans are believed to be the largest in the world. Most of the time they appear as glaring, white, endless plains. During the rainy season they are one of the most important wetland areas in Botswana - when they transform and come alive into stunning grass-plains.Makgadikgadi Pans is situated directly between Maun and Francistown. When it rain, the pans come to life with water birds and great herds of game. The Makgadikgadi pans are the remains of a once ancient lake and now form part of the route of Southern Africa's largest remaining migration. Travellers can expect something slightly unusual from this part of Botswana. Kubu Island, with its huge baobas, is one of the most mysterious places of the Soa Pans.

    NXAI PAN NATIONAL PARK

The pans have been formed by a process that may have begun more than five million years ago. At that time, the Okavango river, the Chobe and the upper Zambezi flowed along somewhat different courses to those of today. Travellers are always struck by the immensity of sky and horizon of the Botswana landscape.

Nxai Pan itself is an extensive grass plain, part, once again, of the old lake bed, which is more generously covered with acacia trees. In the south of Nxai Pan, Baines' Baobabs comprise a clump of large baobab trees, rendered immortal in 1862 by painter Thomas Baines, a member of Livingstone's expedition. The Roar Film which was filmed her canbe seen at the Maun Airport

    LINYANTI

Situated in one of Botswana's most precious and undiscovered wilderness areas is Camp Linyanti. A rustic, permanent tented camp with simple, African-inspired decor and an unapologetic emphasis on the wide-spanning views, attracting an abundance of wildlife.
Camp Linyanti should be visited by anyone passionate about raw Africa and favours safari quality over luxury accommodation.
This uncrowded north-western corner of Chobe National Park is a water wonderland and appeals to visitors eager to get involved in safari activities, and game drives.
There is only accommodation for 10 people in rustic, en suite tents, including one tent that is romantically kitted out for a honeymoon couple. This is a campsite for visitors who prefer privacy.

    Central kalahari game reserve

The Central Kalahari Game Reserve covers a large section of central Botswana.

Its harsh, sprawling terrain is dominated by grasslands, home to wildlife such as giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.

There are several fossilized river valleys, including Deception Valley and Passarge Valley, which offer basic campsites.

Dirt tracks wind south through the reserve's remote landscapes to the Piper’s Pan area

    KHUTSE GAME RESERVE

Because of its proximity, and relative accessibility, to the nation’s capital, Khutse game Reserve is a favourite retreat for Gaborone visitors or residents.

The 240 kms drive takes the traveller through a number of interesting Kalahari villages, including the ‘gateway to the Kalahari,’ Molepolole.

Adjoining the Central Kalahari Game Reserve to the north, and with no fences separating the two, the terrain of the 2 500 sq kms reserve combines most types of Kalahari habitat – rolling grasslands, river beds, fossil dunes and grassed and bare pans. The reserve is part of an ancient river system that once flowed northeast to fill the prehistoric Lake Makgadikgadi. Khutse’s Pans and dry river valleys are remnants of this river system.

    kubu island

Kubu Island (Ga'nnyo) is a dry granite rock island located in the Makgadikgadi Pan area of Botswana. The island is located a few kilometers away from Orapa and Letlhakane mining towns and can be accessed through Mmatshumo in the Boteti district. The entire island is a national monument, and is considered a sacred site by the indigenous people of the area.
It is accessible by four wheel drive vehicle and has basic camping facilities. The campsite is run for the benefit of the local population. Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson described the island as "just about the most astonishing place I've ever been" on the Botswana Special episode.

    MABUASEHUBE

The entrance to Mabuasehube lies east of the Nossob camp in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. The vast open wild ness of Mabuasehube allows you to experience the untouched wilderness of the Kalahari. The campsites in Mabuasehube are very basic and has no fencing around them. It is not uncommon to encounter predators in and around your campsites.

No trailers are allowed on this Poletswa wilderness trail towards mabuasehube and no less than 2 vehicles and more than 5 vehicles are allowed on this crossing per day. Experience the vast kalahari on this sandy track towards Mabuasehube.

    VICTORIA FALLS

Victoria Falls presents a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It was described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800s as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’.
